Carnival in Ecuador

In Ecuador,  the carnival is a very important holiday.  Everybody really loves it! In all the cities, there are different kind of celebrations, for example:

Ambato: This city is recognized for all its fruits and flowers, so during the parade, people throw flowers and dance all the way.

Guaranda: The carnival in this place is considered one of the happiest celebration, because people play with carnival sprays, flour and even eggs.  People get really wild!!!!!!!!

Quito: In our beautiful city, we used to play with water, but a few years ago this habit has changed and most of people use carnival spray, and here you have an example.  We played carnival in our school and we were really happy!:)

Chat between Gutenberg Schule and Pei-Yuan School

After having the first contact with the students from Taiwan, we could do the same thing, but now with the English teachers from Taiwan and our students.   It was morning here and night in Taiwan, but unfortunately we had little problems with the internet connection.    We could talk a little and dedicate them a song.   The experience was terrific!!!!

Chat with Pei-Yuan School Students

As a result of the Christmas Cards exchange, we got a really nice and interesting relation with the teachers from the School Pei-Yuan in Taiwan.

We chatted a little bit and found our customes and countries fascinating to know and we decided to show our students very different and beautiful places that are in our world, “Ecuador and Taiwan”.

This was our first contact with the students from Taiwan.  It was 8:30 at night here and 9:30 in the morning in Taiwan.

We were very excited and the students had so many questions about our clothes, means of transportation, houses, food and drinks.

In the following photo, they were dedicating me a song in English.  The experience was wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Christmas Cards

We began our beautiful project in October, working little by little during our English classes, first we decided to participate with the 4th. and 5th. grades and we began making different models of cards.  Here, I leave you some photos of the process of this work.

My nice students enjoyed  all the time that we invested making the cards knowing that all our good wishes for a great Christmas were going to get into a blessed family.

About us

I am Silvia Donoso, English Teacher in Gutenberg Schule located in Quito-Ecuador. I teach students from 4th. and 5th. grade.  My students can speak and understand English well, as a matter of fact our school has a good level in English, and  since two years ago,  we have been participating in different international projects with very good results.  In December we participated in an International Project promoted by Iearn called “Christmas Cards Exchange”.

We had the pleasure to make christmas cards that went to students in schools from different countries like: U.S.A, Canada, Russia, Argentina and Taiwan.  After some time, we received the cards made by the kids from these schools.

The experience was really fantastic and we felt that it was the real meaning of Christmas, to have the most sensitive words from a human being printed on a card, wishing for the most beautiful blessings and hoping for our well being.
